Abstract
Drawing the Line is a survey of the diverse and dynamic contributions of Japanese Americans into the visual landscape of Los Angeles following World War II and was part of Pacific Standard Time, the unprecedented collaboration initiated by the Getty that includes more than sixty cultural institutions from across Southern California.
Included on this DVD are interviews with artists examining how Japanese American artists determined their particular creative directions in response to a unique set of post World War II social, cultural and political circumstances. Artists represented in the exhibition and on this DVD include Gidra, Matsumi Kanemitsu, Nobuko Miyamoto, Robert A. Nakamura, Linda Nishio, Ben Sakoguchi, Larry Shinoda, Qris Yamashita, Bruce Yonemoto, and Norman Yonemoto.
