Abstract
Following an on-camera introduction by Roya Megnot, shows how the art, architecture, and music of the medieval period were governed by the church and created in its service.

Part one deals with the beginnings of illumination and Romanesque architecture.

Part two focuses on the Gothic period and includes the rise of Gothic architecture, the beginnings of secularism in art, and the development of polyphony in music.
